Techn9ne on the Wicked Wonka Tour

Aaron had a chance to catch up with Kansas City's Tech N9ne while in Denver, Colorado on the Wicked Wonka tour.

As a Kansas City native transplanted into the high altitude of Denver, Colorado, I was excited to get the call that Tech N9ne was coming to Colorado for a one-night show on the Wicked Wonka Tour which also included the infamous Insane Clown Posse, Bone Thugs and Harmony and the Kottonmouth Kings.  This was my chance to get up close and personal with the man who has been changing the face of music throughout the U.S.  While fighting the clown-faced crowds and the elevated climb of several miles from the parking lot, I made my way to the Tech N9ne booth where Tech was signing autographs following his performance.
I was met by a big fella named Joe with mean intentions who listened to my quick story on where I was from and the interview I wanted.  After a brief conference with his client, I was granted access into the booth and immediately started in on the introductions.  Meeting Big Chris Calico, Kutt and several members of the group provided me insight into the hustling that was the Tech N9ne crew.  Each member of the group was signing autographs for hours into the night while selling merchandise and interacting with their fans.  These cats were truly hustling all the while making each and every fan feel at home.

When ICP (Insane Clown Posse) was set to take the stage, Tech N9ne and his group headed back stage to enjoy the show.  I took a seat outside the VIP area, one made of stone and concrete, to wait through the ICP show for the predestined interview with Tech N9ne.  While waiting, I met several people who made the journey to the amphitheatre in the middle of nowhere to meet and see Tech N9ne in all his Kansas City glory.
One guy in particular was very determined to meet Tech N9ne and his crew.  The 19 year old kid who we'll call little Joe and his lady waited for over two hours to get a couple of autographs, one of which was on his lady's laced aqua panties after the lights dimmed.  These are the kind of fans that make up the majority of 9's fan base.
The drawing power of Tech comes not only from his talents on the mic, but his unwavering desire to take care of his fans.
Through two of the other group's performances, Tech stood on an injured ankle to place his mark on posters, cd's, shirts, panties and bare breasts-see page 2(He had slipped on a stage a couple nights previous and jacked up his ankle, but it gave him the opportunity to walk with special made cane with a  mirror attached towards the bottom-you all know the purpose for that ingenious device).
Following the conclusion of the ICP spectacle, Tech N9ne made his way back to his booth to sign even more autographs.  For over two hours, Tech signed thousands of autographs and gave love through kisses and hugs to all his fans.  The Tech N9ne crew was shutdown by the amphitheatre workers when they rudely cut the lights and began pushing the remaining crowd of at least two hundred fans away from the area.
As an observer of this event, my desire to interview Tech N9ne grew as we waited for the shuttle to his bus.  The fan's cult-like fervor was rubbing off and I knew this was going to be a great interview.  The quick ride down to the bus started with me getting a seat next to the man himself.  A couple of sheiza's (spelling is incorrect since I've never spoken German, save this wonderful curse word), a brief comedic exchange between Joe and Tech in the best Scottish accents I've heard and some "get the hell out of the way" and we were at Tech N9ne's bus.  (Of course, Joe excused himself when arriving at the bus by saying "Pardon me while I get a little ghetto here," then proceeded to open the door and hang out while yelling-very effective).  After a few interruptions of girls walking through the place and many of Tech N9ne's crew passing by, we got down to business discussing the meat of the interview.
